A&R UNCUT
Our anonymous writer for A&R Uncut has been a valuable employee and contact at a major record label for the past few years. She has spent almost ten years building on her major and indie label relationships, increasing her credibility and noting the actions of decision makers in music. Her honest insight, understanding and observation of artists seeking label relationships as well as her on-point feedback on the development and direction of signed artists has won her a reputation internally and externally for being one of the few up and coming A&Rs who will tell you exactly like it is with direct and accurate insight.
Aside from her position at one of music’s most historic labels, she has recently launched a development and consulting agency whose current projects range from the launch of a hip hop comic book and animated product to the development of a pop recording artist and songwriter. Her expertise has been sought after for analysis and feedback on album sequencing, marketability and project development. Not afraid to get her hands dirty she is a self-taught recording engineer who has applied extensive research to building a project studio where she produces and records local aspiring artists, references for writers and music for libraries.
She holds a B.B.A in Marketing & Business from a New York college where she graduated with honors. Her 10 years of corporate experience in the Marketing and PR industry, as well as her 8 years experience on the indie and major music scene has been an asset to her assessment of unsigned artists, project direction, consumer behavior and what labels look for. Her experience as a recording artist in her earlier years has helped her to remain grounded with her ears open to raw and under-developed talent. You can count on our resident A&R writer to be an unbiased voice for those looking for advice on how to land a major record deal or added exposure in an effort to raise their current market value and fan base as an indie artist.
