Headliner.fm – Artists Gone Viral

headliner300trans

Headliner.fm is a great new tool for artists to use other artists’ viral networks. Think of it as a promotion exchange, where you can buy, sell and barter exchanges for tweets, facebook postings and myspace updates. The program works very well if you are an artist with an established following as you can leverage your fans to gain fans from thousands of other artists.  The program also has a monthly membership where you can gain hundreds of thousands of additional “Band Bucks” to exchange for more promotion.

Overall the service has proved more than effective and will bolster any artists viral campaign. Don’t be left behind!

Blip.TV – Syndicate Video Content – Make Money

blip logo

blip_tvIn today’s world where content is king, the most highly sought after content is high quality video.  Many artists invest significant amounts of money to create great music videos for their fans, without realizing they have produced great content that can generate significant revenue.  Gone are the days where Music Video budgets are just thrown away as promotional expenses, an expense that was traditionally split between the label and artist, with half the cost being recouped on the artists project.  Now with the age of VEVO and YouTube partners music videos are generating billions of impressions and millions of dollars for the owners of the copyrights.

Independent videos can be monetized as well if they can create a significant viral presence…this is where Blip.TV comes in, it is a very simple Web 2.0 platform that allows you to manage your video distribution across 20+ platforms, including Vimeo, YouTube, iTunes, Facebook, Twitter, etc.  With just one upload your video is syndicated across all these platforms, also with the ability for advertising revenue to be generated.  With a loyal buzz and small budget videos an artist, label, or brand can now easily sydicate and monetize videos using the internet and the digital age.

Check out the video I just uploaded from our convention using Blip.TV

Build a Website – Establish an Online Presence

wpx_official

wpx_officialIn today’s music industry it is absolutely neccessary to establish an online marketing plan centered around a website, preferrably a domain that you own so YOU reap all the benefits of your hard work.  The first step to setting up your website is thinking of a domain that encompasses your brand and some keywords about the brand as well in order to take advantage of search engine marketing.  We recommend using GoDaddy to register the domain as they are the quickest and easiest to deal with in most cases as the market leader.  The next step would be to call the experts over at WordPress Express who were kind enough to build this blog as well as a host of other music sites around artists, venues, models, concerts, and brands.  They will set up all the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Network Optimization necessary for you to excel as a new or established brand.  Thanks to their setup this blog gets hundreds of visits everyday from users like you looking for information to put them ahead in the music industry, and they can do the same for you and your focus.

Hootsuite – Advanced Social Network Management

hootsuite-logo

Hootsuite is a great platform that allows a business, brand, or celebrity to easily manage and track multiple social networks, most notably Twitter.  The software also manages: Facebook, Facebook Pages, LinkedIN, WordPress, Myspace, Foursquare, and Ping.fm.  We use their platform to schedule Tweets across multiple platforms with uniform links and branding messages.  This allows us to easily schedule out our promotional tweet announments for the whole week in just a few minutes.  The service also offers fairly robust tracking, however you must use their URL shortener, ow.ly, for the statistics to work.

Overall the site is a great addition for any online marketer or someone who wants an easy way to manage a few accounts.  I definitely recommend using this tool as I use it everyday in conjunction with many other programs and tools I have mentioned previously in the blog.  Most notably the TweetAdder software and the Hummingbird 2 Automation system.

Twitterfeed Automatic Publishing

Twitterfeed Homepage

TwitterfeedThe Twitterfeed.com service is a GREAT way to publish blog posts to your twitter and a few other social networks automatically. Basically it looks to your blog feed every 30 min or so and if it sees a new post it will automatically create a “Tweet” with the blog post title and even a short description if you want. You can also have it automatically create a shortlink using the included service or you can enhance this with a bit.ly account that has great tracking for all your shortlinks.

If you have a blog you absolutely NEED to enhance your blog with this service. It will create an automatic simple way to inform your Twitter following of your new posts in a uniform post.  The growth we have seen in our blog following from all this is outstanding, when combined with the tricks below we are able to squeeze approximately 30-40 additional clicks to our blog posts with ZERO effort on our part, all we do is post the blog and the readers come!! Check the info below for the special tricks of the trade that will bring you up to our level!

NextBigSound.com Worldwide Online Tracking

I recently came across this GREAT site that uses all new Web 2.0 technology to display an artists web presence across ALL properties online!! It takes into account your myspace plays/views/fans/comments and combines them with data from dozens of other sources including Facebook, Last.fm, and Twitter. The power of this data is amazing, plus when you sign up for an account you can verify your artist profile and tell the program your profile pages so it can better track your artist data.

These kinds of tools will be HUGE in the near future as a third party verification of your buzz as an artist…in other words you can take this data to a record label and if it is strong enough, most will sign you on the spot.

Just another tool in your artist repertoire that will help you analyze and understand your presence in the New Music Industry!!
